Major flooding going on here.  I'm OK.  My sister who lives only a couple of blocks from the river has been flooded out.  They're saying this is the worst flooding in history.   It's no longer raining but apparently the river is still rising.  A neighboring town has over 300 homed under water and several homes have been swept away.

Lord help those who've lost everything.

Rain continues today

I’ve always found it odd that you usually have to pay extra to live near rivers, lakes & oceans. During bad weather those are the worst places to live because you can’t stop water most of the time.
We’ve had a lot of rain where I’m at but it’s welcome. We usually don’t get much.

I know….that neighboring town I mentioned is a resort/tourist town. I imagine the homes destroyed are all high end top dollar homes. Sad. I haven’t ckd out the damages. The interstate here was underwater. We always flood, only once in a while it becomes this great.

I usually think things through very well before I do them. The 2 things that I missed when buying this house were drainage & taxes. Drainage, I was just lucky on. We live in a very flat town buy my house happens to be kind of on top of a little hill. I never even gave a thought to it until our first flooding rain storm. Water only came to the top of the curb before it poured down the hill. As for taxes, well I learned that what you pay for a house doesn’t matter as much as what the city says that it’s worth. I got screwed on that one.
